January Jones devised a fun way to celebrate the socially distanced 2021 Golden Globe Awards from the comfort of her own home. The 43-year-old Mad Men star served up a style rewind by trying on the gorgeous gown that she walked the Globes red carpet in one decade earlier.
January took to Instagram to show her 1.1 million followers that the dress "sorta" fit after all these years, and most of her fans seemed to agree that she still looked just as amazing in it.
January's post included two photos. One was a current pic of the actress rocking the gown at home, and the other was a throwback shot of her walking the 2011 Golden Globe Awards red carpet in the glamorous piece.
As reported by Vogue, Versace designed the show-stopping number that transformed January into a blond bombshell with an edge. Its skirt and bodice were constructed out of long pieces of fringe that slid over her fantastic figure. The front featured a deep V-neck that displayed her cleavage. A wide band circled her slender frame underneath the bust to hold everything in place.
January originally embraced old Hollywood glamour while wearing the crimson garment. Her hair was parted to the side and artfully styled in a sculpted wave that looked sleek and glossy. Her beauty look included a bold scarlet lip.
For the 2021 edition of her look, she opted for a fresh-faced look with a pale pink glossy lip. Her blond bob was untamed with fly-aways aplenty. She wore the left side pushed back behind her ear.
She stood in a corner in front of chair and window. The style star flashed a beaming smile at the camera as she posed with her hands on her hips.
January's statement-making gown received mixed reviews when she wore it the first time around. The Daily Mail wrote that she looked "every inch the star," while Shape Magazine deemed her dress "scandalous." The Telegraph, meanwhile, critiqued the garment's snug neckline, writing that it "was so close, but gave her 'boob squeeze.'"
At the time of the 2011 awards show, January was dating Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis, Mad Men was still airing, and she hadn't yet given birth to her son, Xander. He would arrive eight months later.
Instagram was mere months old when January attended the Golden Globes ten years ago. Now, the platform is packed with just as many stars as the red carpet, and many of them loved seeing the actress in her throwback look.
In the comments section of her post, January got a "Bravo!!" from Mad Men costar Alison Brie, while her onscreen daughter, Kiernan Shipka, responded with an "omfg yes." Her non-famous followers also chimed in.
