Nicki Minaj Slams Mariah Carey, Calls Her ‘Bitter,’ ‘Insecure’

Nicki Minaj slammed Mariah Carey on Thursday as the feud between the American Idol judges entered its harshest and most public phase yet.

Minaj seized on a report from The Hollywood Reporter last week that Idol execs were looking into bringing Jennifer Lopez on board to replace Mariah Carey.

According to the report, producers decided to replace Mariah Carey mid-season, reaching out to J. Lo. to gauge her interest. The plan was reportedly thwarted when Carey’s legal team threatened to sue.

American Idol representatives shot down the report.

“This is just another ridiculous Idol judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale,” a Fox spokeswoman told THR in a statement.

The Brooklyn rapper obviously saw some truth to the rumor. Nicki Minaj slammed Carey in a tweet on Thursday, one that also seemed to reference the replacement plan and attack Carey’s judging skills.

Minaj also seemed to reference a comment Carey made on Wednesday’s American Idol broadcast. While Mariah was giving a critique to contestant Angie Miller, Minaj cut her off to disagree. This caused Carey to point a finger in Nicki’s direction and criticize the rapper for never having a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

In response, Minaj tweeted:

This prompted a backlash on Twitter, but Nicki Minaj responded by attacking Mariah Carey even more.

This isn’t the first time that Nicki Minaj slams Mariah Carey. Back in October the two judges were caught in a dust-up when Minaj laid into Mariah with a profanity-laced tirade, finishing by Minaj telling the singer she would shoot her if she had a gun.
