Kristen Stewart Storms Glamour UK’s Best Dressed, Supports Designer Nicolas Ghesquière

Kristen Stewart has been crowned Glamour UK magazine’s 2013 Best Dressed Star for the second year running.

The just turned 23-year-old stormed to the top of the contenders, beating off tough competition from Emma Watson, British royal Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel Bilson, Zoe Saldana, Miranda Kerr and a host of others.

The magazine praised Stewart’s “personal rock-chic style” and her ability — as seen to great effect during promotion for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 — to step up her style when it counts.

Who indeed can forget the daring, sheer, nude Zuhair Murad gown she donned for the world premiere of Breaking Dawn – 2 in Los Angeles back in November?

But, Stewart is not just a clothes horse, she also has an opinion about what she wears and those she chooses to be dressed by.

The Big Shoe actress recently spoke out about her friend and ex-Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière, who abruptly left the fashion house back in early November.

At the time, a press release framed his departure as a” joint decision,” but it felt like anything but.

As noted by Examiner’s Amanda Bell, it’s widely known in fashion circles that Stewart’s personal connection with Ghesquière was a major reason, if not the defining reason, behind her decision to represent Balenciaga — albeit officially for its fragrance lines.

Although still contracted to the brand, the On The Road star was unequivocal about her continuing belief and support for the designer in a recent interview with German magazine 032c.com.

“He is a reminder of how f***ing annoying everyone else is,” Stewart declared.

“It’s not easy to walk a line that not every single person in the world is going to get in a second. Nicolas is the sort of person who loves swimming in rough water.”

Then — perhaps thinking of the thoroughly modern colored leather dress she wore to the 2012 Met Ball, to which she was accompanied by Ghesquière — the actress added:

“I’ve felt the happiest I’ve ever felt wearing these clothes. I’ve also felt androgynous and rigid. Sort of like you’re wearing a f***ing building.”

Ghesquière, who has since been succeeded at Balenciaga by Alexander Wang, told Stewart after his final collection that he was leaving.

After this bold interview, speculation about what — and more importantly — who Stewart will be wearing to this year’s Met Gala in NYC next week, will likely now point towards Ghesqiuiere.
