Killer Whales Boat Chase Makes Couple’s 20th Anniversary Unforgettable [Video]

A killer whales boat chase has led to an amazing video by new You Tubers Richard and Laura Howard. The lucky couple were diving with a sea lion colony to celebrate their 20th anniversary at a resort in La Paz, Mexico.

Someone spotted the killer whales — also known as orcas — and the couple made a mad dash for their boat. As they motored away, the playful marine mammals came charging after them to surf in the wake.

It’s probably just as well that they were in the boat. They’re top predators, and they do eat meat — be it fish, sea lions, walruses, or even whales.

However, some people object to the nickname “killer whale,” pointing out that no wild orca has been known to harm humans. A few captive animals have killed or hurt humans, but animal psychology is frequently different in the wild from behavior in captivity.

Not too many wild cockatoos chase down and hunt people either.  Something happens to an animal’s personality when it gets to know people better on their home ground, and it ain’t always pretty.

I’m kidding. Actually, it looks pretty clear that the playful relatives of the ever-popular bottlenose dolphin are having a great time chasing the Howard’s boat. And the killer whale boat chase certainly makes for a wonderful You Tube opportunity.

Richard Howard said that the couple’s video footage of the event was “believe it or not” his first You Tube post.

Despite a few editing missteps — fans asked him to remove some questionable music — I think it’s safe to say that he started at the very top.

What do you think of the killer whales boat video? Me, I’m jealous.
