NeNe Leakes Admits She Wanted Porsha Stewart To Leave ‘RHOA’
It appears that Wendy Williams’ assumption about which cast member needed to leave Real Housewives of Atlanta was incorrect.
During the reunion special, Leakes, who is the only original cast member left on the show, made a comment that someone needed to be replaced. When Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen asked who she meant, she declined to comment.
Williams speculated that Leakes was referring to Phaedra Parks, who had become “ratchet.”
But now Leakes is coming clean, and has admitted that she thought Stewart should leave the show.
“Yes, I did feel that Porsha at that time needed to leave the show because there was something – I’m a good judge of character,” Leakes tells Cohen in an upcoming episode of Watch What Hapens Live. “I’ve been blessed, child, I’ve been given a gift – and I kept feeling like Porsha and Kordell were not being real enough.”
The reunion special was taped before Kordell Stewart filed for divorce, and it appears that Leakes has changed her tune. Leakes has since reached out to Porsha Stewart and has offered her support. Stewart confirmed that Leakes extended an olive branch to her in a recent interview with People.
“I’m definitely blessed to have a strong support system around me,” Stewart said. “NeNe, she’s been through a similar situation in her past. She’s telling me to take care of me right now, and that’s what I’m doing.” Stewart said she is trying to find her way “back to that independent woman who makes decisions on her own.” But while she is coming to terms with her new single status, that doesn’t make the fact that her marriage is ending hurt any less. But she is trying to look on the bright side.
“I didn’t get married to get divorced,” Stewart said. “This is not something that I wanted. But at the end of the day I feel there has to be a bigger blessing in this. … There has to be something great for Porsha in the future.”
