A suspect sketch has been released in the case of a mother abducted from a Michigan gas station. Michigan police would like to question the man in the abduction of 25-year-old Jessica Heeringa.
Jessica was working the late shift at the Exxon Mobile gas station in Norton Shores, Michigan when she was apparently abducted just minutes before the end of her shift.
Craig Harpster reported the situation when he realized the gas station was open but empty. As reported by Fox News, he called 911 and told the operator, “There’s nobody here … it just seems strange.”
Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw reports that authorities did not find any sign of a struggle, and there did not appear to be a robbery. Jessica’s purse was found in the store with approximately $400 inside.
There was no security camera inside the Michigan gas station.
Jessica is described as 5’1, around 110 pounds, and with medium-length blonde hair and blue eyes. She usually wears glasses with wire frames.
The suspect in the sketch is described as a male, age 30-40, with wavy light brown hair. He was reportedly wearing a bright orange or red sweatshirt or jacket.
The man was seen in a gray or silver minivan, similar to a Chrysler Town Country.
As reported by MLive.com, anyone with information is asked to contact authorities at 231-72-CRIME (231-722-7463), or call 911. Authorities ask that they be contacted directly, as accusations and assumptions through social media do not help further the investigation.
Jessica’s mother, Shelly Heeringa asks everyone to share the suspect’s sketch. She states that outpouring of support from the community has been heartwarming and greatly appreciated.
Shelly expressed her concern about her daughter working the late shift alone, but Jessica assured her that she would be just fine, telling her mom “don’t worry, I can handle anybody.”
Jessica Herringa and her fiance are the parents of a 3-year-old boy. The suspect sketch was released as police attempt to locate the mother, who was abducted from the Michigan gas station.
