Stephen Curry Thrills Fans With 31 Point Performance Off The Bench

Stephen Curry surprised his own teammates and Golden State Warriors fans during Game four of the NBA playoffs. Curry rose to the occasion with 31 points in 33 minutes, leaving behind a stunned Denver Nuggets.

Trying to describe the performance, Jarrett Jack said, “You know when you’re at a loss for words … I was just laughing, man.”

Curry managed 22 points in just over five minutes. Curry rose to the occasion after he took to the bench in the first quarter with a re-occurring nagging ankle issue.

As he has in the past, Curry lit up the ORACLE Arena crowd as he dumped a 3-point barrage of shots with seeming ease.

Even with his re-occurring ankle pain, Curry has managed two more 3-point attempts on average per game then he did before the All-Star break. Curry during the first round of the NBA playoffs has averaged 9.5 3-point attempts per game.

When asked about his expanding shots per day Curry said:

“There are some [shots] that might look a little sketchy to most critics of basketball, but I feel very confident and my coach has confidence in me, and my teammates do.”

Defending his teammates shot decision, Andrew Bogut joked:

“I’ll add to that. Any time he dribbles the ball over half court, he’s in range. If we can get him open anywhere in the half court, I’m setting the screen cuz’ he’s shooting the ball.”

Bogut had reason to be in good spirits, having stepped in for David Lee he has been a presence to be reckoned with on defense.

The Golden State Warriors have really come together in the NBA playoffs with rookie Draymond Green taking over and managing a strong game when Curry took to the bench after being poked in the eye by Corey Brewer.

With its new spread floor approach and even play, the Golden State Warriors led by Stephen Curry is a force to be reckoned with in post-season play.
