Coldplay singer, Chris Martin, took Jay-Z to a soccer game on Sunday afternoon, where they pair were seen watching Arsenal against Manchester United in North London.
Manchester United were recently crowned the new Premier League champions, after sauntering to the accolade due to the terrible performances of their nearest rivals, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Sunday’s game ended in a stalemate. with boy sides only managing one goal each. Theo Walcott gave the home side the lead after only three minutes of play, however his goal was from an offside position, before Robin Van Persie, who was returning to the Emirates stadium after leaving Arsenal in the summer for Old Trafford, equalised from the penalty spot just before half-time.
Martin and Jay-Z looked to avoid the media glare from their appearance together, with the hip-hop icon donning a hood throughout the game.
The Coldplay singer even brought his son, Moses, along to the game, however the pair’s wives, Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce, were nowhere to be seen.
Martin knows the Emirates stadium quite well though. Not only does he live in the local area, but his band has played the huge arena on a number of occasions, most recently in June 2012.
Jay-Z might have also been looking to branch out into soccer, having recently created the Roc Nation Sports. The company also signed their first client just a few days ago, in the shape of baseball star Robinson Cano.
In order for Jay-Z to start this company he had to sell his shares in the Brooklyn Nets, as basketball regulations forbid an individual from owning stakes in both of these elements of the sport.
Manchester United’s draw with Arsenal also meant that they are now unable to beat Chelsea’s record points tally in a Premier League season, which stands at 96. The Red Devils can only accumulate 94 now from their remaining games.
