Gabourey Sidibe And Kathy Bates Join ‘American Horror Story’

It looks like American Horror Story is shaping up well for the next season. Season three, which we learned from Evan Peters, is called The Coven, has announced a pretty great line up so far. While season two was shrouded in mystery of who would be included in the cast, we already have some names to add to the roster.

Today creator Ryan Murphy announced via his Twitter that Precious actress, Gabourey Sidibe is joining season three. This isn’t the first television series to open their doors to Sidibe. The actress has appearend on The Big C. In addition she has branched out into smaller more comedic film roles in Seven Psychopaths, and Tower Heist.

As for the rest of the cast for American Horror Story, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters are confirmed to return for season three. Early in March, Murphy vaguely commented about the storyline the next season will take, saying it’s “about a lot of things.” He continued, saying the new season is “a really cool story that we’ve been talking about for a couple of years actually, and this seemed the year to do it.”

In addition to the returning players like Lily Rabe, and Frances Conroy, season one’s Taissa Farmiga will also be returning for the season. Along with Sidibe, the most exciting addition was announced earlier in March. Kathy Bates, the queen of this genre, will be joining the cast. Murphy left one tantalizing hint to her character, calling her “a bad, bad woman.” And that Bates would be, “five times worse than her Misery character — which is why she liked it.”

Of her character, Bates spoke at the PaleyFest saying she won’t have a certain idea of her character, “until I’ve gotten in and walked around in her shoes yet, but I’m awfully excited.”

So are we. Are you happy to hear about the additions of Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates?
