Chris Pine Splits With Girlfriend Dominique Piek

Chris Pine has split with his girlfriend Dominique Piek.

The pair made their romance public when they appeared on the red carpet together at the Cannes Film Festival in May of 2012. The two had been dating since 2011.

Although Pine and Piek are no longer a couple, apparently the decision to call it quits was mutual.

“They both needed their space. She has been very busy with her modeling work and traveling. He’s got ‘Star Trek’ and his other projects keeping him busy,” an insider explained to Us Weekly.

The source added, “It’s hard for two people at their age and on their level. They’ll both be just fine, though.”

Although the split has been reported by anonymous individuals and unnamed sources, Chris Pine has not officially announced the split.

Although the folks at E! Online have approached his camp for comment, the actor’s representatives have remained tight-lipped on the subject.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Chris Pine has split with one of his famous girlfriends. The Star Trek Into Darkness star was previously linked to Olivia Munn and Audrina Patridge.

As the source suggested, the actor will probably be just fine. Pine is currently involved in a number of cinematic projects that currently demand his undivided attention.

In addition to the upcoming Star Trek sequel, Chris Pine is taking over the lead role in the Jack Ryan franchise. The next installment of the series, aptly-titled Jack Ryan, is currently in post-production. The film movie, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh, also features Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner.

Pine is also attached to star in director Michael Patrick Jann’s Mantivities. Although very few details are available about the project right now, it’s expected to arrive at some point in 2014.
