Michelle Rodriguez said wants to quit acting in order to focus on her writing career.
The Lost alum recently revealed that she intends to step behind the camera while she’s on hiatus. Her original goal when she first started out was to become a writer. Now that she’s established herself as an actress, Rodriguez said she wants to shift gears.
The Fast and Furious 6 star recently sat down with the folks at Cosmopolitan Latinas to discuss the next step in her career. She explained that she will say goodbye to everyone before heading off “into the mountains.”
Michelle Rodriguez said of her plans:
“The truth is I’m about to say goodbye to acting for a minute and move behind the camera. I got into this business to write. I’ve waited 13 years to actually do it. But like now I’m ready, so that means I have to do the cutoff. I’ll go into the mountains, and bye-bye everybody. Well, I’m a Cancer so … it’s in my nature to hide.”
Although she said she intends to quit acting to pursue other interests, Rodriguez understands that most people identify her as a Hollywood actress. She said that the Fast and the Furious films are particularly well-received by the Latin community.
“They can relate because there are a lot of blue-collar individuals that feel like outsiders just by being in this country. It makes you think that living on the other side of the tracks is just a better option,” she explained to the magazine.
Michelle Rodriguez has appeared in a number of popular movies over the years. In addition to Fast and the Furious, her filmography includes such notable efforts as Avatar, Girlfight, and Robert Rodriguez’s Machete.
Before she heads off into the mountains to pen her masterpiece, the actress will be seen in the upcoming sequels Fast and Furious 6 and Machete Kills. Both movies are on the scheduled for release later this year.
