Kate McKinnon Spoofs Ellen DeGeneres [Video]

Kate McKinnon recently spoofed Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The Saturday Night Live cast member’s impersonation of the comedienne has become be quite popular on the sketch show. Proving that she’s a good sport about the whole thing, DeGeneres had McKinnon appear on the show dressed like Ellen.

During her interview with the talk show host, Kate McKinnon was given a costume and asked to come back out as DeGeneres. McKinnon agreed to the stunt, and soon returned with a short blonde wig and an outfit that was very similar to what Ellen was wearing.

When the actress returned to the stage, she danced alongside her real-life counterpart. She also joined DeGeneres for what can only be described as “chair squirming.” Although some people might take issue with being spoofed, Ellen seemed to be completely amused.

“I will treasure this forever!” McKinnon said as she headed back stage to don the outfit.

Although the SNL cast member was certainly having a bit of fun at Ellen DeGeneres’ expense, it is pretty clear that she has nothing but respect for the woman. Kate McKinnon explained that her mother has actually cooked up several schemes in an effort to meet the host.

She explained:

“I used to paint, I was an oil painter, and she would always say, ‘If you would just paint a portrait of Ellen and send it to her, I’m sure that she would have you as a guest on the show. I don’t know why you don’t just paint a portrait.’ I never did, and I don’t know why. I guess it’s because I was meant to appear in a different capacity on the show.”

“It’s like I’ve met Jesus!” McKinnon joked.
