Woman Finds $36,000 At Miami Beach Golf Course

A Florida woman recently found $36,000 at a golf course in Miami. Here’s the catch: She returned it all to the rightful owner.

Rachel Castillo said she was taught to always “do what’s right” in life. When she found the $36,000 at the Miami Beach Golf Course, she decided to locate the person who lost the money.

The woman works at the golf course serving drinks to players. When a customer told her about a bag that had been left behind, she opened it to see what was in it. Castillo said there were stacks of cash tucked inside. Fortunately for the owner, his ID was in the bag as well.

Castillo explained:

“I believe in the Bible. I’m a Christian, and the Bible says, ‘Do not steal, do not lie,’ you know, all these things, and if you do what’s right, if you live the right way, you’ll be taken care of. I believe I’ll be taken care of… if you do what’s right.”

Although police have identified the 76-year-old man who accidentally left stacks of cash in a bag at the Florida gold course, they are still working on returning the money.

Miami Beach Police Sgt. Bobby Hernandez said the woman who found $36,000 is a hero in his book. He added that it’s “nice that there’s people out there” like Castillo.

Hernandez continued:

“Well, he is in an assisted living facility right now. He might have a medical condition. That’s undetermined. We are in touch with the family members getting more information, but we have identified that money as his through different transactions that he made.”

Some people may not have been as honest as Castillo, but for her it was a matter of faith. The woman said she was taught at an early age not to steal. She added: “Easy money is not good money, you know? I was really freaking out a little bit.”

What do you think about the woman who found $36,000 at a golf course in Florida? Would you have returned the money?
