Ryan Lochte Shrugs Off Critics: ‘Haters Gon’ Hate’ [Video]

You may recall that a recent interview with Olympic gold medalist-turned-reality TV star Ryan Lochte left two anchors in stitches. While Lochte may possess a relatively dull intellect, we have to hand it to him for handling his “haters” with class.

After hearing the news that he had been made the butt of a joke online, Lochte simply chose to ignore it.

“The more known you get in the public eye, the more haters you’re gonna have and that’s a given,” he said at the E! red carpet premiere of his new reality TV show.

“But, you know what? All the haters, all the name calling goes through one ear (and) out the other and I don’t mind it. The way I look at it the more haters I have it means I’m doing something right,” he reasoned.

Lochte’s new show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do premiered Sunday right after his interview with Fox affiliate WTXF in Philadelphia went viral last week. He appeared in a brief interview with the anchors via satellite, and while it was a little awkward, it was pretty unspectacular until the end.

After Lochte made his exit, the anchors broke down into uncontrollable hysterics and mocked the 28-year-old swimmer’s new show, wondering how producers would ever get enough material out of him for a whole show.

But Lochte doesn’t seem to have any hard feeling over the interview, crediting swimming for helping him shut out the negativity.

“With swimming I’ve been known to cut out everything. The crowd, everything. Just focus on me and my lane and what I need to accomplish so I can do that pretty much in life too.”
