Doctor Loses Tooth In Operating Room Brawl

Manchester, UK – A senior doctor lost a tooth after brawling with a colleague outside a hospital’s operating theater.

Consultant surgeon Jarrod Homer squared up to consultant anaesthetist Kamran Abbas in a corridor at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, but it was a nurse who tried to intervene who inadvertently did the real damage.

The peacekeeping nurse reportedly knocked a tooth out of one of the doctors in her struggle to keep the two apart. Which of the two docs is a tooth down is not yet known.

Both doctors have been ordered to stay at home while hospital chiefs investigate the incident.

The incident reportedly took place two to three weeks ago when a disagreement over patients not being brought down to theatre at the right times escalated into a physical stand-off.

A spokeswoman for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which manages the MRI, said:

“This incident is the subject of an internal investigation and we are unable to comment further while this is under way.”

Dr. Abbas specializes in anaesthetising obese people, and gives lectures to the Society for Obesity and Bariatric Anaesthesia in London and Manchester. When asked to comment on the confrontation at his workplace, he declined to comment.

Dr. Homer, meanwhile, is a consultant ear, nose, and throat surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary. He specializes in head, neck, cancer, and thyroid surgery as well as nose jobs and surgery for snoring and rhinoplasty.

Dr. Homer could not be reached for a comment.
