‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Knocks ‘BioShock Infinite’ From Top Spot On Sales Charts

Injustice: Gods Among Us has debuted at the top of the UK sales charts, ending BioShock Infinite‘s three week run as the king of the video game sales hill.

There was actually quite a bit of movement when it came to the rankings on the sales charts. The Nintendo 3DS exclusive game, Fire Emblem Awakening, debuted this week and was able to knock Tomb Raider away from the top two spots in the rankings since that game was released.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is the first fighting game that has managed to take the top spot on the sales charts since UFC Undisputed 3 was able to win that spot back in February of 2012.

This is a pretty big win for the game’s developers. NetherRealm hasn’t had a game that sold this well since Mortal Kombat 2 in 2011. That particular game debuted behind Portal 2 on the UK sales charts.

While NetherRealm can count the week as quite the victory, Square Enix has to be a little bit disappointed that their game’s run has finally come to an end. Tomb Raider has managed to hang onto a spot in the top five, but one has to wonder if its run might be coming to an end.

Defiance might not have ever managed to grab the top spot in the rankings, but the game is seeing quite a bit of success and managed to finish in the fifth spot in the rankings.

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 were FIFA 13, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Luigi’s Mansion 2, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, and Far Cry 3. There has been quite a bit of talk lately about the fact that the 3DS is making a real comeback when it comes to sales.

The fact that two different games (Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Fire Emblem Awakening) that are exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS made the top 10 seems to prove that out.

Do you think Injustice: Gods Among Us can stay atop the rankings for a second week?
