Martha Stewart Admits Falling Asleep During Jerry Seinfeld Show

Martha Stewart has admitted that she fell asleep during Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy show at the Stand Up For The Cure concert in New York City on Wednesday night.

The businesswoman was seen in her slumber during the concert which took place at Madison Square Garden. A source told the New York Post, “Sitting behind Martha, she’s sleeping through the concert.”

Martha then admitted to falling asleep when she was confronted about it, stating, “Can’t go anywhere! I did catch myself doze off – nothing to do with the great comedy of Seinfeld – must have been the 5 am wake-up call for the Today show that morning! And the back-to-back meetings all day.”

The concert was designed to benefit the American Diabetes Association, and Seinfeld acted as the host. It is aimed to raise awareness and money for various causes.

Seinfeld concluded his performance by taking questions from those at the show. He was asked about Larry David, the show Seinfeld, his weight, and the New York subway system. Jerry said the thing that he loved about it now was, “That I don’t have to ride it anymore.”

Seinfeld will know that his material is still solid though, having been consistently touring since the conclusion of his hit show in 1998.

The comedian even turned down a tremendous sum of money from NBC to continue his work with them. The network’s executive at the time, Warren Littlefield, tried to lure him to the show by offering hm $5 million per episode, but Seinfeld wanted to have a family instead.

Littlefield stated, “We didn’t mess around. What we put on the table was unheard of. We went in there with a staggering sum and there was tremendous confidence that no one could walk away from it … (Jerry) came to me and said, ‘I don’t have a life, I’m not married, I don’t have kids.’ We gave it everything we had, he was tempted, but in the end it was a quality of life decision.”
