George Lopez To Star In FX Sitcom

George Lopez is heading back to the sitcom world.

The standup comedian will be starring in a new sitcom on FX called Saint George.

The new show, which was co-created by Lopez, will be the comedian’s first starring role since his ABC series George Lopez ended in 2007.

FX Networks’ Chuck Saftler said: “George Lopez is an incredibly gifted actor-producer and one of the most talented comedians in the business.”

Lopez added: “I’m excited about my new show… (I) couldn’t think a better group of people or better place to create than FX…. Now to get ready… Back to Pilates!”

The new show will feature Lopez as recently divorced working class Mexican-American who has recently become a successful entrepreneur. According to USA Today, the show will also feature an 11-year-old son, an overbearing mother, and a demanding ex-wife.

The Washington Post reports that FX is taking the same approach they did with Charlie Sheen’sAnger Management. The Network has ordered 10 episodes of Saint George. If the first 10 shows hit a certain ratings mark, FX will automatically agree 90 more episodes.
