‘After Earth’ Lands First TV Spot [Video]

After Earth has landed its first TV spot.

Will Smith is no stranger to any screen, and neither is his son, Jaden Smith, a stranger to the film industry. This isn’t the first time the two have starred in the same movie, either. The Pursuit of Happiness was the first time they both starred in the same film.

Will Smith has had quite a career, starting as a wisecracking rapper in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and taking his rap to the studio to record albums that were meant for children. He’s been in Bad Boys, Independence Day, and Hancock, and he doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon.

Jaden Smith has proven himself solo as well, starring in the title role of The Karate Kid remake with Jackie Chan.

Needless to say, Will Smith and son Jaden Smith are a force to be reckoned with.

After Earth is about a teenager and his legendary father, Kitai Raige and Cypher Raige respectively, who crash land in a future Earth. Humans are no longer the dominant species, as animals have evolved to the point of having driven most of humanity elsewhere to survive. To raise the danger of the situation, Kitai and Cypher weren’t alone in the crash. Now on Earth with them is an unstoppable alien creature, and the two of them must learn to trust and work together to survive.

The TV spot begins with the two face to face, Cypher motioning to Kitai to calm down. Both are wearing a breathing apparatus. Suddenly there is a loud double bang and Cypher gets sucked out through the end of the spacecraft.

Words on the screen say “June 7” as Will Smith narrates just over a whisper, “Crash landed, two confirmed survivors. This is a class one quarantined planet. Everything has evolved to kill humans.”

The rest of the TV spot is above.
