Earlier this week, Disney confirmed that Jackee Harry will be in the pilot episode of Girl Meets World, but wouldn’t dish any details on her character.
The show is a spin-off of the 1990’s sitcom Boy Meets World which aired from 1993 to 2000. The original series followed the exploits of Cory Matthews, played by Ben Savage, as he faced adolescence.
One of the most popular story lines from the show focused on Cory’s relationship with his teenage sweetheart, Topanga, played by Danielle Fishel.
The spin-off, which picks up roughly ten years down the road, finds the beloved couple married with two children. Their younger offspring, a daughter named Riley, is the “girl” in Girl Meets World.
The show will reportedly focus on Riley as she “faces life lessons through her family, friends, and school, as her parents did when they were younger.”
Jackee Harry is the the newest cast-member to be announced for the pilot. Both Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel agreed to reprise their roles shortly after Disney gave the green light on Girl Meets World. The network recently announced that William Daniels, who played Mr. Feeny on the original series, will also be returning for the pilot episode.
The role of Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley will be played by 11-year-old actress Rowan Blanchard, who was most recently seen in the films The Back-up Plan and Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D. Her older brother Elliot will be portrayed by actor Teo Halm, who just finished filming the lead role in Disney’s upcoming film Echo.
