No Kryptonite In New Superman, Says Zack Snyder

Superman won’t have to worry about any kryptonite in the new movie Man Of Steel.

Director Zack Snyder said that kryptonite has been used so frequently in Superman movies that he felt the only way to make Man Of Steel seem fresh was to find a new way to put Superman in danger.

Snyder told Entertainment Weekly: “I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Kryptonite in the movie.”

Henry Cavill, who will be playing Clark Kent in the new movie, said that the new Superman faces more emotional dangers in The Man Of Steel. Cavill said that his character feels isolated from the human world due to his superpowers. He is constantly trying to hide his abilities and feels lost, scared, and angry.

Cavill said: “Although he is not susceptible to the frailties of mankind, he is definitely susceptible to the emotional frailties.”

But Cavill’s Superman won’t spend the entire movie brooding about his existence. He’ll also have to defeat the Kryptonian villain General Zod who threatens to destroy earth.

Man of Steel producer Charles Roven, said that the battle between Zod and Superman will provide a “great spectacle.”

Roven said: “You want to give the audience great spectacle. You want them to go to the movie, be eating their popcorn and be like, ‘Wow!’ But it’s just not good enough to give them the ‘Wow.’ You want them to be emotionally engaged. Because if you just have the ‘wow,’ ultimately you get bludgeoned by that and you stop caring.”

Here’s the trailer for Man Of Steel.

Are you surprised that Synder’s Superman won’t involve any kryptonite?
