LL Cool J And Brad Paisley Release New Song ‘Live For You’ [Audio]

LL Cool J and Brad Paisley have teamed up for a second collaboration, this time for the song “Live For You,” which they recorded for the hip-hop legend’s upcoming album, Authentic.

There is no talk of racism on this new track, as the new song finds LL singing about how his love for his lady never sleeps. The song bears a strong resemblance to his song “Luv U Better,” which was the lead single from his ninth studio album, 10. On the chorus, Paisley sings about how much he loves his woman, even though she doesn’t think he is good enough. He promises she won’t find anyone like him and that he lives for her.

The song is a far cry from the unlikely duo’s previous offering, “Accidental Racist.” LL Cool J and Paisley found themselves embroiled in a bit of controversy over the song, which features lyrics like, “If you don’t judge my do-rag, I won’t judge your red flag,” and “If you don’t judge my gold chains, I’ll forget the iron chains.” The duo vehemently denied that the song was a stunt and that it was about forgiveness

Paisley explained how the song came about, saying:

“It really came to a boil last year with Lincoln and Django, and there’s just a lot of talk about it. It was really obvious to me that we still have issues as a nation with this … I just think art has a responsibility to lead the way, and I don’t know the answers, but I feel like asking the question is the first step, and we’re asking the question in a big way. How do I show my Southern pride?”

Still, despite what appears to be good intentions, the song was widely panned and decried as racist.

Authentic, LL Cool J’s 15th studio album, is set to hit shelves April 30.
