Walmart Worker Returns $20K Found In Cart

A super honest Walmart worker engaged in a stunning act of awesomeness when he returned an envelope with $20,000 cash inside it found in a cart in a Washington store, which forces us to ask … who brings twenty large into Walmart, and why?

The Walmart worker who returned the $20,000 he found is Bismark Mensah, 32. Mensah moved to the U.S. last year from Ghana, and now works at the Walmart in Federal Way, Washington.

Leona Wisdom and Gary Elton, the owners of the misplaced $20,000, were driving away when the honest Walmart worker flagged them down. (And the why: the pair had just taken out a bit of money to put down on a short-sale home.)

Mensah, who says his “conscience wouldn’t allow” keeping the dough, explains what happened after he discovered the cash-filled envelope in a Walmart cart:

“I run after them. I think somebody heard me and signaled for them to stop … [Wisdom] was like, ‘Wow!’ Tears are coming out. She took some money and tried to reward me. I said, ‘No, no. I’m all right.’?”

Not only did the honest Walmart worker decline a reward for his good deed, the recent immigrant also turned down a date with Wisdom’s daughter — the mom explains it’s “hard to find honest people.”

The Walmart worker did receive an “Integrity in Action Award” but with pay “every couple of weeks” of around “$620 to $640,” $20,000 is a lot of cash. Still, Mensah said of keeping the money:

“I couldn’t even drive home if I did that.”

The honest Walmart worker said of his humble American dream beginnings:

“You have to start someplace … In the parking lot, people chat, tell you their problems, you see that a person is not happy. I tell them, ‘God is in control. Everything is OK.’?”

Mensah has since been promoted to a more permanent position with benefits at Walmart.
