Canadian Woman Arrested After Posting Graffiti Photo On Instagram [Video]

A 20-year-old woman was reportedly arrested this week in Canada after after she posted a photo on Instragram depicting anti-police graffiti.

According to the Vancouver Sun, Jennifer Pawluck, of Montreal, was picked up by police at her home Wednesday, several days after she uploaded the graffiti image to the popular picture-sharing social media site.

The photo in question depicts a hand-drawn image of Montreal police Commander Ian Lafrenière with a bullet wound to the head.

Next to the mural are the words “Ian Lafrenière” and “ACAB” — a popular graffiti acronym that stands for “all cops are bastards.”

After her arrest, Pawluck was brought to the police station, questioned for several hours and then released on a promise to appear in court.

She faces a charge of criminal harassment.

“I think the person behind the artwork should be in my place … all I did was take a photo,” said Pawluck, adding that she had no malicious intentions when taking the photo.

“I am someone who is very artistic. I know that the photo is violent, but all the same I thought it was well done. My aim was not to be threatening.”

While many are claiming the entire incident has been overblown, police defended the decision to proceed with charges against the 20-year-old.

Spokeswoman Anie Lemieux says it’s zero tolerance when lawyers, judges or police officers are believed to be targeted.

“It’s something that is taken seriously and there is no tolerance when something like this targets someone from the justice system,” Lemieux said. “In this case, it’s a police officer and it’s being taken very seriously.”

Pawluck’s court date is set for April 17, but until then she must not come within 1,000 yards of police headquarters or Lafrenière’s home.
