Colbert Endorses Sister, Declares War On ‘Morning Joe’ [Video]

Mark Sanford and Elizabeth Colbert-Busch may be the ones fighting for a seat in congress but the real fight will be between The Colbert Report and Morning Joe. Stephen Colbert declared war last night against Joe Scarborough after the morning talk show host ran an “infomercial” for Sanford.

Colbert said that he didn’t want to go head-to-head against Morning Joe but that he didn’t have a choice after Scarborough ran a “pure infomercial for his old buddy, Mark Sanford” earlier this week.

Scarborough said: I’ve been a good friend of Mark for a very long time. He worked on wall street. Knows the issues better than anyone … Courses, courses should be taught on how Sanford ran his campaign.”

Sanford, who had his political career derailed four years ago when he cheated on his wife, won a GOP nomination for the US House seat in South Carolina and will now campaign against Colbert’s sister.

Colbert said that he didn’t want to talk about the race on his show but since Scarborough was using his program to help Sanford the comedian decided that it was only fair to promote his sister on his show.

Scarborough said: “It’s going to be Morning Joe vs. The Colbert Report.”

Colbert responded: “Oh, it’s on. Did I want this fight? No. But they drew first blood, not me.”

Are you surprised that uber-conservative Stephen Colbert endorsed his democrat sister? You shouldn’t be. The comedian has already spoken at a few fundraisers for his big sister.
