DJ Clue Arrested On Drug, Traffic Violations In NYC [Report]

Legendary mix master DJ Clue has been arrested in New York City on drug and traffic violations, NBC New York is reporting.

According to the network, DJ Clue was pulled over early Wednesday in lower Manhattan, in a traffic stop on Varick Street at about 2 AM local time. The site adds that when police ran the DJ’s record, it turned up some outstanding violations — and a subsequent search allegedly uncovered drugs:

“Police checked his driving record and found the 38-year-old deejay was driving with a license that had been suspended eight times, according to law enforcement sources… When police went to arrest him on the suspended license charge, they searched him and found three pills wrapped in tin foil, law enforcement sources said.”

At the traffic stop on Varick, DJ Clue was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operator, with an arraignment scheduled for later Wednesday in a Manhattan courtroom.

Twitter was abuzz when DJ Clue’s drug-related arrest was first reported, with the hip-hop caucus on the microblogging site tweeting and retweeting news of the bust.

Over on Twitter, many users linked back to the original article and speculated about DJ Clue’s arrest and the hip hop community’s reaction to it:

No one from DJ Clue’s camp has officially commented on the bust, and it was not immediately clear what the “controlled substance” allegedly found in his possession may have been.
