‘The Conjuring’ Drops First Full Trailer [Video]

Warner Bros. has unveiled the first full trailer for the upcoming horror flick The Conjuring.

The film is the latest genre effort from the guy who directed Saw, Dead Silence, and Insidious. If the trailer is any indication of what’s in store for moviegoers this summer, then it’s going to be a very spooky ride.

The Conjuring is centered around a pair of established paranormal investigators named Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple are renowned for their work in the field. However, nothing has prepared them for the events they are about to experience inside a small farmhouse in New England.

Although the couple have investigated a number of supposed hauntings, the evil forces residing in the Perron home are unlike anything they have ever encountered. You can check out some of these chilling moments in the trailer embedded below.

Warner Bros. and director James Wan had anticipated a PG-13 rating when the film was submitted to the MPAA. The studio even bumped the film’s release date to the summer due to the positive word of mouth the test screenings had received.

However, the ratings board determined that The Conjuring was too scary for PG-13 audiences. The movie was slapped with the R-rating as a direct result. The MPAA told producer Walter Hamada that nothing could be done to obtain a different rating.

James Wan said he was grateful that the studio decided to release the picture in the summer despite the R-rating. He added, “It’s a testament to the studio too for not f*** with the film. It works and they are sticking to it and I’m very thankful for that.”

The Conjuring stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver, and Sterling Jerins. The terror fills theaters across the US on July 19.
