Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga arrested for DUI


Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested in Covington, Kentucky early this morning on charges of driving under the influence.

23-year-old Maualuga was arrested at sometime between 1:30 and 3AM Friday, after running into a parking meter and two parked cars. Police have not disclosed Maualuga’s BAC at the time of the accident, but in addition to the driving under the influence charges, the football player was also cited for reckless driving. Maualuga is set to be arraigned today in Kenton County District Court on the charges from his arrest last night.

Maualuga played college football for the USC Trojans and was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s 2009 NFL Draft Preview issue as a potential first round pick. He was selected in the second round by the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last week of 2009, Maualuga suffered a broken ankle. On December 30th, he was placed on injured reserve and finished his rookie season with 63 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles and three pass deflections in 15 games started.
