NFL Rumors: St. Louis Rams interested in Vick

This gets a little complicated but the basic idea here is the Philadelphia Eagles have three QB on their roster, Donovan McNabb who will make five million dollars in 2010 and is due a roster bonus of 6.2 million on May 5th. They also have Michael Vick who will make 3.75 million in 2010 and is due a roster bonus of 1.5 million on March 5th. They also have Kevin Kolb, who is reportedly loved by his teammates and may be ready to take over the Eagles starting job.

On the St. Louis Rams side, they need a franchise QB, they also need a player with a little bit of glitz to help sell tickets and re-energize their franchise. Since they have the first pick in the 2010 NFL draft that would be the normal way to find both of these things. However this is not a QB prospect in this draft worthy of the number one overall pick, so the Rams must find what they need elsewhere.

We don’t have to do a lot of math to figure out that the Eagles will not keep all these QB’s on the roster, and they will look to deal one of two of them for the other things their roster needs. They have a need for Safety, and Eric Berry of Tennessee is the best one in this draft, and he is a top ten draft pick. He will not be on the board when the Eagles select with the 24th pick.

So what we have here is two teams potentially trading to get what they both need. The Eagles getting a better draft pick to take an elite defensive player, and the Rams trading for the QB they cannot draft. In Vick the Rams are also getting a name guy who has so far successfully rehabbed his image. He very well could able to lead the Rams towards better days.
