Man Who Stabbed Woman 54 Times Gets Life Sentence

Lashon T. Hollman will be serving a life sentence for murdering Cassandra Nelson last year after stabbing her 54 times.

According to MLive, Nelson didn’t die from her 54 stab wounds. An autopsy revealed that the 28-year-old woman didn’t die until she suffered severe head trauma when Hollman dropped a television on her.

Hollman, 21, was convicted of first degree premeditated murder and will spend the rest of his life in prison. Hollman was also found guilty of torture and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent. It only took the jury 15 minutes to find Hollman guilty.

Fox 8 reports that Hollman will officially be sentenced this May but that the first-degree murder charge carries a “mandatory term of life in prison” without the possibility of parole.

Nelson was found dead in her apartment on February 2 after friends grew suspicious when they did not hear from her in a few days. Police found a beer can next to Nelson’s body that had Hollman’s DNA on it. They also found Hollman’s DNA on a bloody knife in the apartment.

Quamay Henne, a friend of Hollman’s, told police that he had confessed to the murder. Henne said that Hollman told him that he “stabbed the sh*t out of her.”

Saginaw County Assistant Prosecutor Paul Fehrman said that Hollman rejected a plea deal that would have had him plead guilty to second degree murder and torture. The deal would have put Hollman behind bars for 30 years.
