Joan Rivers Coma Update: Rivers Moved Out Of ICU Says Melissa Rivers [Breaking]

Breaking: Joan Rivers' coma update is positive, and has reached an important milestone in her recovery. According to her daughter, Melissa Rivers, Joan has been moved from intensive care.

In a welcome statement to the public, Melissa offered a glimmer of hope that her mom is well on the road to recovery with the move from ICU. Wednesday's news was an about-face from what appeared to be a grim prognosis of her mother's chances, citing a CBS New York report.

Fans of the hard-working comedienne were among the first to get Rivers' coma developments on Twitter. One user of the micro social media site shared the positive update of Rivers' hospitalization.

Ever since Joan Rivers was hospitalized and rendered comatose, an enormous outpouring of love and support followed. Melissa followed up with a number of statements to keep well-wishers in the loop on her mom's recovery.
On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received. I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers.
Another statement simply said she and her family were keeping their "fingers crossed" when it became known Joan Rivers' doctors decided to transition her out of life-support to manage her coma, a tedious process that would take four days or longer.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, speculation ran high that even if the 81-year-old comic woke up out of her medically-induced coma, it would likely be a long road towards recovery. And in Joan's advanced age, any extended rehab period beyond hospitalization would likely spell an end to her career. In short, getting over this tough time in her life could likely take years.

Joan Rivers has been hospitalized in Mount Sinai Hospital since Thursday when she stopped breathing during outpatient surgery on her throat. Soon thereafter, she was sedated to assist her in waking from an unconscious state. Next, she was placed in life-support, and rumors swirled about her imminent death.

This latest coma milestone, while not a signal that she is out of the woods, is comforting to Rivers' legion of fans. It's unknown what her condition is or even if she's been formally taken off life-support and is breathing on her own. However, news of her being out of ICU offers hope her loved ones need.
