Kris Allen Baby Boy: ‘American Idol’ Alumn Reveals Sex Of Child

It’s a baby boy for American Idol champ Kris Allen!

US Weekly reports Allen and his wife Katy O’Connell revealed the sex of their forthcoming child at the SXSW Festival last week. The baby is reportedly due in July.

“I am really excited,” the 27-year-old singer-songwriter said during an interview with Hollywire TV. “I’ve always wanted to be a dad. My wife already started buying him clothes like me. He’s already got some [fedoras].”

The 27-year-old musician first announced his wife’s pregnancy in January after the couple were involved in a head-on collision in Arkansas.

“Kristopher and Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus!” Allen’s mom wrote at the time.

Kris broke his wrist in the New Year’s Day crash, which caused him to postpone a tour that was slated to kick off just days later. Speaking about the injury, the season 8 Idol champ said the recovery process has been difficult.

Allen said:

“It’s getting better but it’s slow. Apparently I shattered it,” he said of his wrist. “I’m not quite playing [guitar] yet, but I’m getting there.

“It’s so frustrating, but it’s okay. I’ve actually started picking it up and messing around with it a little bit,” he added.

In related news, Kris recently performed a live version of his unreleased track “Love Too Much” for fans.

As one of the singers on a special charity cruise to raise money to benefit homeless children and families, Kris surprised fans in attendance with a live rendition of the song.
