‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Confirms ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Talks
Have we finally found the Christian Grey we’ve been looking for? It looks like we’re one step closer to finding Christian, who’s presence in the erotica novel Fifty Shades Of Grey made soccer moms alike steamy.
Since Universal bought the rights to adapt the novel into a film, everyone has been talking about who will play the two lead characters. While Matt Bomer was on the chopping block to play Christian Grey, that buzz has considerably died out as shift has focused on the college age girl Anastasia Steele, who Grey seduces through BDSM.
Now it looks like things are heating up again, and it might be due to the talks that CW’s Arrow star Stephen Amell is currently in. Amell, who’s abs were flaunted on every billboard around for Arrow, is currently in discussions to play the cool as steal Christian Grey.
Speaking on a video posted on his Facebook page, Amell went on to say: “I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it.”
Does that sound cryptic? Stephen teased on about the possibility that he may fill Christian Grey’s shoes: “A long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn’t call it long, but I wouldn’t call it close.”
It seems like Amell might be the perfect fit to play Christian Grey. He’s fit, young, obviously handsome, and still a fresh face that isn’t on anyone’s radar. Since the announcement that the novel by EL James was being turned into a film, there’s been a year of speculation on who will take the role. In addition to White Collar’s Bomer, stars like Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder, and Jake Gyllenhaal have all been rumored at one point.
Most of those choices were just rumors even though most of the actors had to eventually address those rumors. Most famously, Somerhalder entertained fans on Twitter for weeks after appearing on Ryan Seacret’s show looking more than ready to take the role on.
