Obama Gets Heckled In Jerusalem [Video]

President Obama was making a speech to a group of college students at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem today when he was interrupted by a heckler.

Thankfully, the President has had plenty of training on how to deal with heckler’s thanks to the divided nature of American politics. Obama responded to the heckler, thanked him for providing a lively debate, and got a standing ovation from the crowd.

According to the Atlantic, the heckler started yelling at Obama in Hebrew about Jonathan Pollard, who was arrested and imprisoned in 1987 for giving the Israeli government classified information.

It’s doubtful that Obama knew what the heckler was talking about (does Obama speak fluent Hebrew?) but he clearly knows how to handle a heckler.

Obama said: “This is part of the lively debate that we talked about.”

The comment garnered a standing ovation from the majority of students at the speech. Obama milked the moment a little more, by adding: “I have to say we actually arranged for that because it made me feel at home. I wouldn’t feel comfortable if I didn’t have at least one heckler.”

Here’s the video of President Obama getting heckled in Israel.

Obama wasn’t lying about being heckled often in America. A quick YouTube search reveals dozens of videos of the president being heckled at various speeches. He has been heckled while giving energy speeches, health care speeches, and even by White House reporters.

But hey, it could be worse. At least he’s never had a shoe thrown at him during the speech.

So, it turns out that Obama has had a shoe thrown at him. Well, it was a boot.

How do you think Obama handled his heckler today?
