Jonathan Taylor Thomas has reunited with TV dad Tim Allen.
The two actors will appear together this Friday when Thomas makes a guest appearance on Tim Allen’s new TV show Last Man Standing.
Tim Allen and JTT last appeared on network television 14 years ago. Playing off their long absence together, Tim and JTT hint at their former relationship. Here is part of the conversation from the new episode:
Tim: “Man, you look familiar.”
JTT: “Well, you know, I used to work with Kristin [Tim’s daughter on the show]”
Tim: “That’s not it.”
That conversation continues for a while as the two men bond over work and fast cars.
After Jonathan Taylor Thomas’ character leaves Tim jokes once more, “That kid was raised right.”
That “kid” is now 31-years-old, far from the 10 year old he played when Home Improvement debuted to super-stellar ratings back in 1991. Taylor remained with the number one rated television series until it went off the air seven years later.
JTT took some time off acting after several failed movie roles. In 2011, the cast of Home Improvement reunited for an off-air event. During that reunion, JTT said he was considering a return to active after years away from the spotlight.
According to Thomas, “I think at this point, I’d eventually like to work behind the camera, That’s not to say I would never act again. I’m not quite sure, to be honest. I still have a passion for TV and film [and] could see myself working in it.”
Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Tim Allen reuniting on Last Man Standing marks the first time since 2005 that Thomas has stepped in front of the camera.

As a fan of Last Man Standing, I can’t wait to see the actors from one of my all-time favorite show growing up reunite, even if only for one episode.
