‘Hot In Cleveland’ Renewed For Fifth Season

TV Land has renewed its first original sitcom, Hot in Cleveland, for a fifth season.

The series launched in June 2010 and is quickly approaching the 100 episode mark. The upcoming season will consist of 24 episodes, bringing the series total to 104.

The series has already been sold in syndication to TV stations in 92 percent of the United States for a September 2014 launch. Most likely, the launch will coincide with the show’s 100th episode. The series has also been sold in over 190 countries.

Hot in Cleveland remains the top show on TV Land, although its ratings have declined recently. To date, the series has averaged 2.8 million total viewers in Live+7. The series has also produced a spinoff, originally titled Have Faith but later changed to The Soul Man, which premiered on June 20, 2012 with a 12-episode order. The series, starring Cedric the Entertainer, Niecy Nash, and Jazz Raycole, focuses on an R&B singer-turned-minister who relocates to St. Louis to become a preacher in his father’s church. His wife Lolli (Nash) and daughter Lyric (Raycole) aren’t thrilled with the change, as they’ve gotten used to their superstar lifestyle.

The Soul Man was picked up for a second 10-episode season on December 13, 2012. The second season will premiere on June 19, 2013.

Hot in Cleveland stars Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick. The three younger women are entertainment industry veterans who move from Los Angeles to Cleveland and lease a home with a feisty caretaker (White).

“This is an incredible milestone for the show and for TV Land,” TV Land president Larry W. Jones said in a statement. “To have our first scripted sitcom make it to the syndication level is a huge accomplishment. We have a brilliant creative team both in front of and behind the camera. We are so proud to be on this exciting ride with them.”

New episodes of Hot in Cleveland return on June 19 with a live season premiere, and the fifth season will start shooting in the fall.
