‘Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition’ Coming To Steam

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is coming to Steam.

Do you remember back when Duke Nukem wasn’t a steaming pile of failure? Yep, that era ended around the time Duke Nukem Forever was released for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3. Almost a decade concluded with a collective “why?”

The developers remember, and they know they screwed up. This is why they decided to go back and give us back the last good game in the series, Duke Nukem 3D. This nostalgic videogame is available on Xbox Live Arcade, and in Atomic Edition at GOG. Instead of trying to give us another sequel, they gave us updates on a successful title that we loved way back on the PlayStation (before the numbers started).

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition has been developed in conjunction with Singapore-based General Arcade. It offers three expansions; Duke Caribbean: Life’s a Beach, Duke: Nuclear Winter and Duke It Out in D.C.. The Schwarzenegger look-alike with the Ash Williams one-liners is back to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and he’s all out of bubblegum.

This game will feature Steam achievements and online multiplayer, just in case you need more sarcastic joke-dropping goodness to go with your bacon-frying shooting spree. Perhaps it will also come with the Stabbing Westward music video that the original Duke Nukem 3D announced itself with.

Scott Miller of 3D Realms mused, “There is a whole generation of fans that may have heard of Duke Nukem 3D but never actually played it so it’s exciting to add a bit of polish to the game and the expansions for the first release on Steam.”

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition should be available already on Steam, and just in case you aren’t convinced, the trailer for the game is below. See what all the fuss is about and be ready to laugh at the unabated parody of the classic that preceded the title that must not be named … again.
