Democrats Lose Massachusett Senate Race

In what some are describing as the possible beginning of the end of the Obama reform era, the Democrats lost the Massachusetts Senate race this evening.

Republican state Senator, Scott Brown defeated the Massachusetts Attorney-General, Martha Coakley by a handy 52% to 47% in a state that has been blue to the core in the Senate for half a century.

Republican candidate Brown ran a solid and safe campaign, focusing on core Republican values and coming out strongly against the growing U.S. national debt and health care reform.

Although Brown should be credited for a good campaign, this was a race that the Democrats primarily lost with an incompetent candidate. Jon Stewart has the best summary of just how bad the Democrats campaign was in the following video. Republicans across America can only hope that their local Democratic candidate is as dumb as this one come the Congressional elections in 2010.
