Nic Cage Says Vegas Lifestyle Is Simple, Low-Key

Nic Cage says his Las Vegas lifestyle is not nearly as lavish or extravagant as it was in the past.

The prolific actor is known for spending his money on a number of strange and expensive items over the years. However, the star of the animated comedy The Croods insists that his life is much more laid back these days.

“I have a simple life, and I’m a lot lighter because of it. I get up in the morning, I drive my kid to school, I go home, I work out, I take my wife to lunch, I pick my kid up from school, and that’s it,” he explained during a recent appearance on Today.

Nic Cage switched to his simple Las Vegas lifestyle after being hounded endless by photographers in Los Angeles. Instead of spending quite a bit of time dodging paparazzi, the actor decided to change directions.

“I think it’s no secret that I’ve tried to take chances in my career and also in my life and I believe to not live in fear. And I would cringe when I would have to say those lines, but that’s the character,” he explained.

Nicolas Cage is known for living a very extravagant lifestyle. In addition to his numerous film roles, the actor is also famous for the items he has procured over the years.

The actor’s success in Hollywood has allowed him to purchase a fleet of cars, a private island, and a pair of castles. Cage also reportedly bought a dinosaur skull, some unusual pets, and a haunted mansion in the heart of New Orleans.

Nic Cage has revealed quite a bit about himself over the past few weeks. The actor also said he turned down an opportunity to stare in the DreamWorks box office hit Shrek because he didn’t want to portray an ogre.

The actor didn’t make the same mistake when he was approached to star in the animation studio’s comedy The Croods. The film also features Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, and Cloris Leachman.

“What really got me about Grug is his emotional transformation from an overprotective father who is surviving but not living and then he learns how to let go and live and I like that,” Cage explained. “That’s what appealed to me most. I like a movie that can make you laugh and make you cry.
