Shooter TJ Lane Wears ‘Killer’ T-Shirt To Court, Gets Life Sentence

Chardon High School shooter TJ Lane wore “Killer” t-shirt to sentencing hearing. Lane arrived inside the courtroom in a button down blue shirt, but ultimately revealed the t-shirt beneath with the word killer written across the chest in black magic marker. The judge sentenced the teenager to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Relatives of TJ Lane’s victims were in the courtroom during the Chardon High School shooting sentencing hearing. After exercising his right to make a statement, Lane stuck up his middle finger in front of the victims’ families.

An excerpt from Lane’s sentencing hearing statement reads:

“This hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates the memory. F**k all of you.”

Lane’s attorney reportedly advised his client against making such a statement. Audible gasps were reportedly heard throughout the courtroom when the Chardon High School shooter finished his sentence.

TJ Lane, 18, was reportedly smiling and smirking during the proceedings. Some relatives of Chardon High School shooting victims referred to the teenager as “repulsive” and expressed their desire to see him locked inside a cage like an animal for the rest of his life.

When asked about Lane flipping the middle finger to the court gallery, the Ohio prosecutor expressed his shock about the gesture. The prosecuting attorney stated that the hearing actions by the Chardon High School shooter prove that he is a “disgusting” human being. The lawyer also maintained that the murders of the students were both premeditated and calculated killings.

On February 27, 2012, TJ Lane shot and killed Demetrius Hewlin, 16, Daniel Parmertor, 16, and Russell King Jr., 17. When Lane was captured not long after the Chardon High School shooting, he was wearing a gray t-shirt with the word killer also scribbled across the chest. Nick Walczak survived the Chardon High School shooting, but remains paralyzed and in a wheel chair.

After learning that he would spend the rest of his life in prison, TJ Lane chuckled. The Chardon school shooter also reportedly smiled at a grieving mother as she detailed her devastation. The woman also told Lane that she hoped he had a “torturous” and extremely slow death. During a news conference after Lane’s sentencing hearing, the shooter’s sister said the brother everyone just saw in the courtroom is not the brother she new.
