Adam Levine is adding yoga master to his resume of rock star, actor and television host, as he’s becoming a rising star in the world of the meditative arts.
The Maroon 5 singer and judge on The Voice has been using yoga as a form of exercise and relaxation for years, but in recent months has gained increasing attention among the yoga community. He opened up about his love of the form of meditation to Men’s Health, and his YouTube videos on yoga have been racking up the views.
For Levine, yoga is a way to channel his energy.
“I have a hard time sitting still,” Levine said. “I can be all over the map. Yoga has given me the ability to be more focused and make better decisions that come from a clear place. … It’s made me more successful. I love it and don’t know what I’d do without it.”
Though he loves yoga, Levine said he doesn’t want to be boxed into the cliche of eating certain foods and wearing certain clothes.
Still, Levine says that Yoga has given him a new sense of style.
“When you look at anyone who I considered a fashion icon, the clothes are always a collage of different looks and moods,” he said. “I love waking up, throwing on some yoga pants, and hanging out all day looking like a psycho. And then that night I’ll throw on a suit and go out looking like a businessman. I love that flexibility. I wouldn’t do any of this (stuff) if it weren’t fun.”
