The new image from Pacific Rim teases the size of the film’s enormous monsters.
Director Guillermo del Toro and the folks at Warner Bros. are keeping these cinematic creatures close to their chest for the time being. However, the latest image released for the flick proudly showcases the massive size of these unseen beasts.
Instead of giving fans a good look at the Pacific Rim monsters in question, the filmmaker and the studio have decided to release a teaser image. The photo is designed to look like a snapshot from a news broadcast. Several people can be see standing around the imprint.
Movie buffs should try hard to ignore the fact that the footprint is eerily similar to the one seen in the 1998 remake of Godzilla.
Warner Bros. has officially describe the film as follows:
“When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.
“On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the apocalypse.”
Although the film has yet to arrive in theaters, reports suggest that Warner Bros. is keen on getting a sequel off the ground as soon as possible. However, del Toro revealed in a recent interview that he wanted to tackle other projects before diving into the follow-up.
“We certainly started tossing ideas for possibilities of a sequel and Travis Beacham and I are writing a proposal of ideas, but at the same time I know I don’t want to do that next,” the director said. “I want to do something else, I want to do something in a different genre that’s not so big.”
