Cyberpunk 2077 will feature multiplayer options.

Fans have been reaching out for any bit of information about CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 they can get. The RPG will be based on the popular tabletop setting, and apparently lets you play as an underwear model with scythe arms. The latest confirmation is that Cyberpunk 2077 will be multiplayer.

CDPR managing director Adam Badowski says that Cyberpunk 2077 “will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we’re going to add multiplayer features.”

Emphasis in Cyberpunk 2077 will be on a blank slate character, allowing much more freedom storywise. Multiple character classes will also add to the variety of gameplay, allowing an element of replayability that RPGs get the most mileage from.

Exploration will also be a key factor, it has been said, as it will also be an open world game. Adam Badowski has gone on record as saying, “The first and most important environment for Cyberpunk is the city, obviously. But not only the city: you can expect some more environments in the Cyberpunk game. We want to start in the Night City, which is cool. And yes it will be an open world game as well.”

No release date has been set for Cyberpunk 2077, as Adam Badowski states it’s a long ways off. Badowski says, “It’s the crucial moment for Cyberpunk, because we have [tons] of ideas and we need to have the perfect direction and we have to be in-line with the global vision of the game. We need to have precise, good, well-[organized] strike teams for that. The guys are working together brainstorming a lot, so a smaller team is better. And then we will go out to full production speed.”

Whether there will be any multiplayer in The Witcher 3, Adam Badowski says he’s thinking about something. There are no solid answers to that question.

We shall see how it all pans out when Cyberpunk 2077 is eventually released.
