Drew Barrymore Reunites With Adam Sandler For New Comedy

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are reuniting for another rom-com. This will be their third time on the big screen together. The new romantic comedy sees Barrymore and Sandler together again as a couple who are stuck together after a horrible blind date in a family resort with their children from previous marriages.

Originally Drew Barrymore was the only actor attached to the romantic comedy as the female lead, but Sandler quickly latched onto the film. Warner Bros. is hoping to recapture lightning in a bottle with Sandler and Barrymore, who will reunite after having previous success together.

They first teamed up for Sandler’s Happy Madison produced film The Wedding Singer, which was so successful it was later turned into a short-lived Broadway adaptation. Their second time around was in the film 50 First Dates, which becameone of the highest grossing romantic comedies, grossing $155 million.

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler haven’t been on screen together as a couple since their success with 50 First Dates. Between that time Sandler has released a few hits and even bigger duds with I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, Bedtime Stories, Funny People,Jack and Jill, and That’s My Boy; just to name a few. Barrymore has had her share of films, sticking more to the rom com genre than Sandler with, Fever Pitch, Music and Lyrics, and He’s Just Not That Into You.

Throughout that time, Barrymore has had personal success along with critical success, the latter for which she won a Golden Globe for TV movie Grey Gardens. While Adam Sandler received big box office checks with hit Grown Ups, and a sequel to follow, it’s been a while since Sandler has impressed critics.

However, every time Sandler and Barrymore team up together it seems like they have a natural chemistry, and that they know exactly what material they’re comfortable with. Sandler actually tries to play someone other than himself alongside Barrymore. All of that taken into consideration, we just might have another film that scores box office gold and critical success to enjoy.
