Alan Cumming Denies ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Rumors

Alan Cumming has denied rumors that he will appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The actor portrayed Nightcrawler in X-Men and X2. Although recent rumors suggested that he would reprise his role in Bryan Singer’s sequel, Cumming said he won’t appear in the film.

“No, they haven’t [asked me to return],” Alan Cumming explained during an interview with Sirus XM. “Someone asked me that the other day and I said no.”

Cumming added, “I know the one that’s coming up shoots this Spring, but I wouldn’t be available anyways. I don’t think they have. I was gonna meet my manager for dinner later, I was gonna ask him, but no, I’m sure they would’ve told me, had they approached.”

20th Century Fox has also confirmed that Alan Cumming will not portray Nightcrawler in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Although a number of X-Men cast members will return for the sequel, it would seem the Good Wife co-star isn’t one of them.

Cumming’s involvement in the sequel began when James McAvoy accidentally listed the actor as a part of the cast. It didn’t take long for elated Nightcrawler fans to latch onto the news.

“It’s huge. The cast is huge,” McAvoy explained to Heat radio. “You’ve got me, Nick Hoult, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage. ‘Huge’ Jackman’s coming by. He is huge. He’s massive.”

Unless something changes for both Alan Cumming and Bryan Singer between now and then, it would seem that Nightcrawler won’t make an appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The upcoming sequel finds the heroes traveling back in time in order to change a historical event that would impact man and mutant alike.

Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Omar Sy. The film is expected to arrive in theaters next year.

Are you disappointed that Alan Cumming won’t appear as Nightcrawler in the next X-Men movie?
