Olivia Wilde: I Thought I Wasn’t Beautiful Enough For Jason Sudekis

Olivia Wilde has seen her career take off in the past few years with a slate of movies and magazine photo spreads, but when it came to her now-fiance Jason Sudekis, she thought she’d never match up.

“I thought, ‘He won’t be interested in me; I’m not a contender,’ ” Wilde told Marie Claire in a recent interview. “He was so cool, so funny – I was such a fan of his and had always fancied his speed and his intelligence.”

Though she is now a bona fide movie star with another film on the way — The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which also stars Steve Carell — it wasn’t always that way. When she met Sudekis, Olivia Wilde has just burst onto the scene with a lead part in the Fox medical drama House, and he was already an established star on Saturday Night Live.

It was enough to make Wilde self-conscious.

“I thought, ‘I’m not beautiful enough or his type,'” said Wilde.

Wilde said their first date was all she needed. They stayed in a restaurant until it closed at 2 am, and Wilde said she fell immediately in love with Jason Sudekis.

“He didn’t kiss me, and I was madly in love,” she recalled. “I was overwhelmed.”

Wilde said she met Sudekis at a vulnerable time. The star of the upcoming movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone had just ended her 8-year marriage to filmmaker Tao Ruspoli in 2011, and she found herself single for the first time since she was 19.

Olivia Wilde said she and Ruspoli “drifted apart,” and though the situation was painful she said it gave her the courage to move on. Until she met Jason Sudekis, that is.

“I was just learning to be by myself,” Wilde explains of meeting Sudeikis. “He seemed to really see me, see through the bullsh–… He was so handsome, and he could dance.”

Things have not been perfect for Sudekis and Wilde. They have endured breakup rumors, but have always emerged together as a strong couple.

Olivia Wilde now said she is excited about the possibility of starting a family, and is thinking about a wedding in New York City. She said she’s even thinking about children for the first time in her life.
