Minor Earthquake Rattles Los Angeles, Palm Springs


A minor earthquake rattled homes and businesses on Monday afternoon (January 11) across the broader Los Angeles Area.

The earthquake struck at 6:41pm local time with a preliminary reading of 4.3. The epicenter was located 10 km (6 miles) ENE of Beaumont, just South of the San Bernardino National Forest. Depth was a relatively shallow 7.1 km (4.4 miles).

Twitter users from across the broader Los Angeles region reported feeling the quake, which was said to have lasted for around 3 seconds. Locals reported a small jolt and shaking, but nothing major.

There were no reports of damage or injuries, and none expected.
