Melissa Rivers Talks About Kelly Osbourne’s Seizure
After Kelly Osbourne collapsed and had a seizure on the set of Fashion Police, co-hosts Joan and Melissa Rivers immediately rushed to the side of their friend before anyone else could.
Recalling Thursday’s surprising and terrifying events, Joan and Melissa said that they didn’t hesitate to intervene when Osbourne collapsed. Melissa told Entertainment Tonight that she realized quickly that Osbourne was showing signs of a seizure, her instincts kicked in, and alongside mother Joan, she practiced the proper procedures until an ambulance arrived.
“More than anything it was just scary,” Melissa recalls. “I just laid on the ground holding on to her until the paramedics came.”
Melissa said that keeping Osbourne calm was the hardest thing she and her mother had to do.
“I just laid on the ground with her until we got the seizure to stop,” she recalls. “She was disoriented and I just laid on the ground with her to keep her down because she kept trying to stand up.”
Melissa continues, “I made her look at me. I said, ‘I’m here, stay with me, it’s all fine.’ I explained where we were.”
After Osbourne’s seizure ended, she wanted to continue taping, but Joan insisted that she go to the hospital. She was taken out on a gurney with a sheet over her head to shield her from the press.
Kelly gave her fans the all-clear herself via Twitter Thursday night, thanking them for their concern and support.
