A temporary kindergarten teacher in Sola, Norway, was fired this week after she brought in a vial of her own blood and allowed the children to touch and taste it.
The teacher brought in a sample that was taken earlier that day and poured it onto a plate.
“The children asked if they could touch it and she allowed them,” Inger Lise Soemme Andersen told Reuters. “Then they asked ‘how do we get it off?’ so she put her finger in her mouth and the children followed suit.”
Soemme Andersen added, “The parents are mortified, shaken and shocked.”
The kindergarten teacher was tested for Hepatitis B and AIDS following the incident, but results have yet to come in. Authorities consider the risk of transmitting any infection to the children — ages 3 to 6 — very low. The teacher has since been fired.
While this may be one of the odder cases we’ve reported here at The Inquisitr, this isn’t the first time a kindergarten teacher has been fired for bad behavior.
In China’s Zhejiang province last October, 20-year-old Yan Yanhong was fired after she posted over 700 pictures of her abusing her students online. She had another teacher take the photos, and that person told Yanhong that the pictures would cause trouble if she posted them online. Yanhong had also bragged that she got the job through her connections, and that she did not have a certificate to teach. A school official said the “recruitment standard has to be lowered” because kindergartens in the area were facing a shortage of teachers.
Another kindergarten teacher was fired after she was caught on camera slapping her students multiple times. Li Zhuqing, who taught at Sky Montessori Kindergarten in China’s northern Shanxi province, was accused of hitting one of her students 70 times. The girl’s father said he noticed her bruises and alerted officials. The father also said another student was hit about 43 times, while others were hit 10 and 27 times. The kindergarten was ordered shut down.
What do you think should happen to the teacher who let her students taste her blood?
