2 Dead In Police Standoff In Los Angeles

At least two people are dead after a police standoff in the community of Watts in Los Angeles, California.

According to Fox 8, the standoff began as a domestic dispute at about 3 am this morning. The gunman shot his wife as well as a man in a truck outside of his home. The man was fatally wounded while the woman was taken to the hospital in grave condition.

After the shooting, the man holed himself up in his house with three children. The gunman exchanged fire with police officers during the standoff early this morning. No police officers were hurt during the incident.

The Sacramento B reports that the standoff ended when the man took his own life inside the home.

The police entered the house after the two children, believed to be 8 and 3 years old, came out of the house and told them that both “mom and dad” were dead. A 1-year-old child was also found in the home.

Deputy Chief Robert Green said that the man died due to a self inflicted gunshot to the head. The woman survived the attack but was taken to the hospital in grave condition.

Green said that the children would be taken into custody until relatives are notified.
